MCP Registry

The official public list of MCP servers, with an API clients can query and a CLI for publishing your own server under a verified namespace.

Install

  1. Browse or query

No install needed. Browse at registry.modelcontextprotocol.io; API docs at registry.modelcontextprotocol.io/docs.

  2. Publisher CLI (macOS)

    brew install mcp-publisher

Only needed to publish a server. Release binaries are on the repo's Releases page.

An app store index for MCP servers. It stores metadata (name, description, where the package lives) and points to npm, PyPI, Docker or a remote URL; it does not host the code.

When to use it

  • You want to know whether an MCP server exists for a service, and who published it.
  • You’re building a client or a private sub-registry and want a standard feed to pull from.
  • You’ve built a server and want clients to find it (mcp-publisher).

Before you install anything you find there

A listing tells you who published a server, not whether it’s safe. Moderation is minimal by design: the policy says consumers “should assume minimal-to-no moderation.” Scan and read a server before you connect it, the same as any other third-party code.
