Public Equity Investing (OpenAI plugin)

OpenAI's plugin of 23 skills for listed-company research. It builds earnings previews, DCF and three-statement models, comps, catalyst calendars, long/short pitches and investment memos.

Install

  1. Codex CLI

    codex /plugins

Opens the plugin browser. It's in the built-in "Codex official" marketplace; search "Public Equity Investing".

  2. ChatGPT / Codex app

Plugins tab → search → plus button. Data connectors ask you to sign in the first time you use them.

A finance plugin from OpenAI, and a good example of a skill bundle doing serious work. A router skill works out what you’re asking for and hands off to one of the other 22 skills. Most produce a real deliverable: an Excel model, a memo, a dashboard.

What’s in it

  • Earnings: earnings-preview before a print, earnings-deep-dive after it.
  • Models: dcf-model-builder, three-statement-model-builder, comps-valuation, equity-model-update, model-audit-tieout, scenario-sensitivity-generator.
  • Ideas and positions: long-short-pitch, idea-generation, catalyst-calendar, thesis-tracker, portfolio-risk-management, event-driven-analyzer.
  • Write-ups: initiating-coverage, memo-builder, company-tearsheet, meeting-prep, deck-report-qc.

When to use it

  • You cover listed equities and want a first draft of a preview, model update or pitch from filings, transcripts or your own workbook.
  • You want an existing model checked for hard-codes and broken tie-outs (model-audit-tieout).

Before you install

The plugin can connect to FactSet, Morningstar, LSEG, S&P, PitchBook, Third Bridge, Daloopa, Quartr, Alpaca and Slack. Each needs your own subscription or account. Without them it works from public sources and the files you give it. It keeps preferences you explicitly ask it to save in a local file under $CODEX_HOME/state/plugins/. It’s research support, not investment advice: check every number against its source before it goes into a decision.
